Bourbon Balls

A Holiday Essential

Rumor has it that a holiday sweet tooth makes the best smile. One of the easiest no-bake holiday treats are bourbon balls. With roots dating back to 1938 these southern delicacies are best known for their delightful trifecta mix of chocolatey cocoa, bourbon, and pecans. Thanks to our super-friends Marcia and John for introducing us to this holiday favorite!

Time To Prepare:

About 30 minutes all in.

Foodie Tips:

  • An easy way to crush your vanilla wafers is to place them into a Ziploc storage bag, seal it, and press the wafers with a rolling pin. Magic!

  • You can finely chop the pecans with a knife or use a food processor to do the job in mere nanoseconds.

  • Bourbon balls are typically about ¾ inches in size. A cookie scoop can help you form them.

Ingredients:

3 Cups Vanilla Wafers, Crushed 3 Tablespoons Light Corn Syrup 1 Cup Powdered Sugar ½ Cup Unsweetened Cocoa 1 Cup Texas Pecans, Finely Chopped ½ Cup Bourbon To Coat Powdered Sugar, Cocoa, and or Coconut Flakes

What To Do:

1. Mix the first six ingredients together and hand roll the dough into small balls. 2. To coat, roll them with powdered sugar, cocoa or shredded coconut. You can also dust the bourbon balls with extra powdered sugar for a special presentation. 3. To help prevent the bourbon balls from drying out keep them stored in an airtight container in a cool place or in the fridge. I prefer to eat these within a few hours of making them. Yield: About 45 bourbon balls. These bourbon balls are great for gift giving for the holidays or just because - enjoy!
