Frito Party Mix

A Sensationally Salty-Sweet Snack

A spin-off of an old family favorite - nuts and bolts party mix - this Fall Frito Party Mix is a crunchy snack that's sure to delight the senses, thanks to our crunchy corn favorite - the Frito. Flashback 1932. The Depression. $100 to buy the recipe. And a few minutes down the road in San Antonio the Frito was born. Fritos are a tasty Texas original that deserves its own special party mix!

Time To Prepare:

About an hour (includes a little time for cooling).

Foodie Tips:

  • You can dial up or down the salt in this recipe by using salted or unsalted nuts. Or you can give the mix a sprinkle of kosher salt on top while it's cooling.

  • Add a touch of fall color to your snack mix by using Halloween-colored or Harvest-themed M&Ms. You can order them online!

  • Fancy the Frito? In addition to enjoying Fritos atop cheese burgers, salads and tacos you can enjoy them to scoop up mounds of our signature Southwestern Salad.

Ingredients:

8 - 10 Ounces Fritos Corn Chips 3 Cups Rice Chex Cereal 3 Cups Mini Pretzel Twists 1 Cup Texas Pecan Halves 1 Cup Peanuts 1 Cup Cashews 1 Cup Light Brown Sugar ½ Cup (1 stick) Butter ½ Cup Light Corn Syrup

1 - 2 Cups M&Ms

What To Do:

1. In a large bowl gently combine the Fritos, Chex cereal, pretzels, pecans, peanuts, and cashews.

2. Preheat your oven to 350°F. 3. To make the caramel-like sauce, in a small saucepan over medium-high heat melt the butter, sugar, and corn syrup. Bring to a boil for 4 minutes, without stirring. What could be easier?!

4. Remove the sauce from the stovetop and pour it over the Frito mixture, stirring well to coat. 5. Pour the mixture on a large cookie sheet and bake in your preheated oven for 8 minutes. Stir and bake an additional 8 minutes. 6. Remove the party mix from the oven spread it out onto wax or parchment paper, and let it cool.

7. Sprinkle the M&Ms on top before bagging/serving.

To serve: Transfer your party mix to a serving bowl, gift bags, or muffin cups for individual snacking. This mix is great for gift giving! Enjoy!
